About Me
It wasn't always called  Unga
In fact, when it all started there wasn't any name. It was just some kid with some busted up guitars, not enough money to get them fixed, and a need to know how it worked.  How did that beat up old strat, all falling apart, get that...that sound.  Most importantly was how was it staying together and what needed to be done to keep it together.  After the kid figured that out there had to be some way to make it better.  So, that first guitar went from being broken, then fixed and finally hot rodded, but it wasn't enough.  Next came friends and their guitars.  If they were broken he fixed them.  If they were normal he made them stand out.  His guitars were working and that seemed to be enough.  Then came wood shop.  Up until wood shop it was all about fixing and hot rodding.  The thought of making a guitar from a piece of wood had not even occurred to him. In fact,  the first time it was brought up he thought it was just crazy. A few days passed and the gears were already turning.  Soon there were doodles of guitars every where. Then came this girl and she said, "If you're not going to do it then I will." Next thing you know the "Flame Thang" was born.

What does it mean?
It was Mr. Wachovious J. Monk (Wach for short) who came up with the good Unga name.  When he started talking every time he saw me he said Unga.  I always had a guitar in my hands so I guess he figured we were the same.  When he started asking for me by name and asking where the unga was we figured it out.  At that time I had just finished restoring this old no name acoustic guitar. I had basically rebuilt it and wanted to call it my own.  Unga just made sense and the name has gone on everything I have made since then.

About me
I started making guitars in high school. I ended up with wood shop as a class and the teacher suggested I make a guitar.  He had never made one so it was sort of an adventure.  with some help from him and my girlfriend who was also in the class we did it.
After high school  I had no shop, but I wanted to build.  I had a couple of power tools and a stew mac catalog and some drawings.  I ended up doing a couple of copies and then tackled an original design.
After that I found an add for Roberto Venn and went ahead and signed my self up.  At Venn I built some electric guitars and my first acoustic guitar.  I also learned some new things and met some cool people.
I came home form Venn with a few more guitars finished and sold and a better grip on the subject.  I ended up buying some more tools and I haven't stopped building since then.
